Plenty Turns Three!

Erica and I opened Plenty’s doors almost three years ago, on August 8th, 2006!  Since its opening Plenty has developed a wonderful, loyal, and supportive following - thank-you to each of you for finding us and telling your friends, family, strangers, colleagues(…) about Plenty.   It’s your enthusiasm and support that weaves us into the community and keeps Plenty going.   For anyone who is reading this but hasn’t been into the store yet please have a look at the friendly things people have been saying and then visit us to see for yourself.

• “Sometimes dreams do come true. In this case, a little shop crammed with everything having to do with wonderful food fulfils not only the dream of the owner, but also dreamers like me who have wished for a place such as this that gathers together ingredients and implements and books and chocolate and cheese all in the same place.” … Don Genova on his Food Network blog

• “This downtown store with a country feel has the most eclectic array of fine food products in the city. To give you a short example, Plenty offers the city’s largest selection of dried chili peppers; Cowichan Bay red fife wheat flour; a mountain of beautifully crafted BC preserves; Denman Island chocolate; local cheese…” Eric Akis, Times Colonist, A Foodie Road Trip

• “… [Plenty] literally brims over with local edibles.  Truly, if one cannot take an edible journey of Vancouver Island one can still find and taste many of its food products courtesy of Plenty’s shelves.”  Elizabeth Levinson in Edible Journey (2009)

• “This emporium, which stocks fine foods (fair-trade, local and global), also celebrates time-honoured crafts for the home.” Shelora Sheldan in Western Living Magazine

• “Alluring shop scented with exotic spices and soaps, and imbued with true passion for things culinary.” Sue Hoffart in the Qantas Travel Insider

• “Plenty is the best culinary cupboard in town chalked full with Vancouver Island and BC books, goods, and delicious items…” Visitors Choice Magazine

• “Plenty Epicurean Pantry is the Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for grownups.  There is some sort of magic at play in Plenty Epicurean Pantry. When you walk in the door, there is far more in this store than you would think possible. With such a small street-front, the variety and diversity of the products Plenty offers seem nearly unfathomable.” Vancouverplus.ca

• “Accept the cup of tea offered while you explore the array of local, regional, and organic products, expertly sourced by owner Trevor Walker.” Vancouver Magazine

• “Last time I was in Victoria … I discovered what is now one of my all-time favourite food shops. I can’t really call it a grocery store, even though with the variety of foods available there, it could qualify as one, but it’s more of a gourmet food shop, or maybe a food lover’s equivalent of a kid in a candy store… I’ve shopped in a lot of crazy food stores across the country, and seriously, this is one of the best.“ Ariane in her blog Spendlocally.ca

• “It’s a beautiful little shop, like an airy general store from dreamland.” Potluck Canuck

• “Plenty has a delightful old-fashioned feel enhanced by an antique counter from the Old Vogue Shop that earlier occupied this space, and a well-honed butcher block from a long-gone neighbourhood meat shop. Make sure you check out Plenty’s resident red cuckoo that enthusiastically flaps his wings on the hour, but never chirps the right time!“ Wegrape.ca

• “Plenty is a feast for the senses. From the entrance’s ornate wrought iron gates and the pleasing scent when you step inside to the hand-painted walls in the spice section, the store’s look and feel make it an instantly comfortable place to shop.” Beth in her blog, Shades of Bliss
